A foremost Ijaw Leader and former Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in Bayelsa State Hon. Joshua Maciver has advised youths and political actors to shun violence as we draw closer to the 2019 general elections.
Speaking, Hon. Maciver said elections should not be seen as a do or die affair. According to him, leadership comes from God and no amount of blood any politician shed that can guarantee him/her victory.
Hon. Maciver also known as The Tukpa of Izon-Ibe went on to advice the electorates to listen to the manifesto of all the aspirants before making a comprehensive decision. He said their decisions should not just be about money but a proper representation. He further advised the electorates to collect any money given to them by anybody but vote wisely.
Hon. Maciver finally advised aspirants to use the period of campaign to educate the electorates of their manifesto and what they the electorates stands to gain should they be elected rather than engaging in campaign of calumny and hate that will heat up the polity unnecessarily thereby causing hates and divisions amongst aspirants.
It would be recalled that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed November 17th for official kick off of campaigns.
