These appointments were announced on Saturday in Abuja by Rinsola Abiola, daughter of late Chief MKO Abiola, who is also named to the campaign team’s media and administrative committees. Hon. Asabe Vilita Bashir, a former member of the House of Representatives from Borno who serves as national coordinator, will be assisted as deputy national coordinator by Lauretta Onochie, a senior aide in the Presidency.
Dr Zainab Baugudu, wife of Kebbi State governor, will lead the women’s campaign in the North-West Zone, while Falmata Zulum, first lady of Borno State, will lead the campaign in the Northeast. Similarly, Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the first lady of Kwara State, will coordinate efforts in the North-Central, while Mrs. Sanwoolu, the wife of the governor of Lagos State, will oversee the South-West.
Chioma Ikeaka-Uzodinma, the First Lady of Imo State, will also coordinate the South-East, while Linda Ayade, the wife of Cross River State Governor, will lead the women’s campaign in the South-South. According to the statement, wives of governors in APC-controlled states will serve as state coordinators in APC states, while notable APC women in non-APC-controlled states will take charge. Florence Ajimobi, widow of former Oyo State governor, and Zainab Ibrahim, APC Deputy National Women Leader, among others, were chosen to coordinate activities in states not under APC control.
The administrative committee is led by Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, who also serves as the chairman of the strategic planning committee. Senator Fatima Raji-Rasaki will also chair the operations and logistics committee, while Sarafa Modele-Yusuf, a former governorship candidate in Ogun State, will chair the media and strategic communications committee. Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, former deputy governor of Lagos state and Senior Special Assistant to the President, will chair the Finance and Special Duties Committee, while Abike Dabiri-Erewa will chair the Diaspora Mobilisation Committee.
The Creative and Entertainment Industry is also led by Joke Silva, a seasoned screen diva, and includes members such as Toyin Adegbola, Esther Wright, Rose Odika, and Hadiza Kabara, among others. Similarly, the APC presidential candidate has appointed the governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, to his campaign council as an adviser on party integration and reconciliation. The presidential candidate signed a letter with the reference number PCC/DC/APPT/Vol.1/27 appointing the Chairman of the defunct APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
“By way of this letter, we are pleased to formally convey your appointment as the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council’s Adviser on Party Integration & Reconciliation.” This appointment is fitting and appropriate given your impressive political accomplishments and exemplary leadership as governor of your state and party member. We appreciate your participation in our campaign. We know you will do your best in this new role, so we will run an effective, message-driven campaign that will lead us to victory in the 2023 presidential election.
“Together, we will not only ensure our party’s victory in the February 2023 election, but we will also move Nigeria along the path of national greatness by building on the achievements of our party and the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in providing Nigerians with progressive good governance.”
