2023 Election: 6 Women Who Won The Seat of Deputy Governors Of Their Respective States (Photos)
Below are six women who won the seat of deputy governor of their respective states during the 2023 governorship elections.
Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe — Kaduna State
Hadiza is a medical doctor and current deputy governor of Kaduna State since 2019. She is the first female deputy governor of the State and was elected alongside her boss (Nasiru El-rufai) during the 2019 gubernatorial election under the APC party.
In 2022, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Sabuwa was also got nominated as the Kaduna State deputy governor alongside Senator Uba Sani, who won the just concluded governorship election held last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sabuwa, who is the first female deputy governor of Kadu state, was re-elected as the next deputy governor of the State, in March 2023.
Noimot Salako-Oyedele — Ogun State
A public health engineer and the real estate professional, Noimot is the incumbent deputy governor of Ogun State since 2019. She emerged as the Ogun State deputy governor after winning the 2019 Ogun State governorship election alongside Dapo Abiodun, under the platform of APC.
Akon Etim Eyakenyi — Akwa Ibom
Eyakenyi, who is currently a senator representing the people of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, was declared winner of Akwa Ibom state deputy governor during the just concluded 2023 governorship poll under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Dr. Ngozi Odu — Rivers State
Ngozi is a former commissioner for Education in Rivers State. In 2022, under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ngozi was nominated as running mate to Rivers State 2023 governorship candidate, Siminialayi Fubara.
Ngozi emerged winner of Rivers State deputy governor during the gubernatorial election that was held on Saturday, 18th March, 2023
Josephine Chundung Piyo — Plateau State
Josephine is among the newly-elected deputy governor during the 2023 gubernatorial election. She emerged as the deputy governor to Plateau State governorship candidate, Caleb Mutfwang, under the umbrella of the PDP.
Patricia Obila — Ebonyi State
Obila would be sworn in as deputy governor of the Ebonyi State governor-elect, Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, on 29th May, 2023. She won the position of deputy governor during the just concluded governorship election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
