The Ogun State Police Command has sent a strong warning to residents of the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.

As political parties and their candidates carry on their electioneering campaigns across the state, the police appealed to members to eschew violence and go about their activities peacefully.

Track News recalls that a few days ago, the convoy of the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was attacked by some suspected political thugs in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Our correspondent also learnt of shootings and minor attacks at various political rallies across the state.

However, the command said it “is satisfied with the peaceful conduct of parties so far,” enjoining them to sustain the tempo.

In a statement signed by the police spokesman in Ogun, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command urged candidates to advise their supporters on their need to play the game according to the rule.

The police asked that campaigns should be issue-based rather than attacking one another.

Abimbola assured the public of their safety, saying robust security arrangements had been put in place to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

While wishing the politicians a hitch-free electioneering campaign, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, enjoined parents to call their wards to order
