The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has expressed concern about the alleged collection of electorates’ Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) by the state’s opposition parties.
According to Track News, the party disclosed that it has received reports that opposition parties in the state are collecting PVCs or voter serial numbers in exchange for promises ahead of the general election.

The information was revealed by state Governor Badaru Abubakar during a flag presentation event in Jahun for APC candidates from the Jigawa South West Zone.

“There was a report reaching us that some supporters of the opposition parties are collecting voters’ cards or [their] serial numbers with a promise of employment or empowerment grant if elected,” the governor said after presenting flags to APC candidates.

However, Abubakar maintained that the promises made to voters in exchange for their PVCs or serial numbers were false and violated electoral law.

As a result, he advised state electorates to refrain from such acts and to be wary of such politicians who have no good for them.

“You are living witnesses when they were in power only a few people enjoy the Sure-P programme but during our time almost everyone benefited from one or more government’s support and intervention,” the governor said.

While urging electorates in the state to vote en masse for the APC in the upcoming elections, he stated that no amount of opposition criticism would persuade people not to vote for the party in 2023.
