2023: Judge Me, Tinubu, Others Based On Competence Not Age – Orji Kalu

Presidential hopeful and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu has appealed to Nigerians to judge all presidential aspirants based on competence, knowledge and not age.
In January 2022, the former Abia state governor declared his intention to succeed President Muhammaudu Buhari in 2023, Tracknews.ng reports.
In a post via his verified Facebook page on Saturday, Kalu said the emphasis on the age of presidential aspirants should be disregarded, noting that the important thing is who the people believe will give the right leadership.
The 61-year-old politician stated that wisdom and knowledge for leadership don’t come with age, stressing that both young and old are eligible to contest for the 2023 presidency.
He wrote: “I find it inappropriate when people judge people based on age. The truth is that wisdom and knowledge for leadership don’t come with age. In leadership, both young and old are eligible.
“It is not done by age but the knowledge you have to serve the people. Age doesn’t seem to impact a leader’s willingness to step up, issue directives, and provide rewards for performance.
“For us, Nigerians, What should be more important is who the people believe to give the right leadership.”
Meanwhile, a 102-year-old woman identified as Mrs. Nonye Josephine Ezeanyaeche has declared her intention to join the 2023 presidential race in Nigeria.
Ezeanyaeche said if the younger generation is not ready to take up the challenge of leading the nation, then she will throw her hat into the ring.
She made her intention known during a recent visit to the management team of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Abuja where she was received by the NTA Director-General, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed.
