Ogidi Ben Bara, a popular polician/Chief Executive Officer of TrackNews believes that a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket will not benefit Nigeria because it contradicts Islam’s principles of justice, fairness, and equity.

While opposing the idea, the politician stated that it was wrong to support a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket because Nigeria is a secular state.

He contended that the same faith presidential ticket was incompatible with the spirit of justice, fairness, and equity that Islam promotes and defends.

Those who advocate for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, he claims, do not wish Nigeria well because their actions will further divide the country along religious fault lines.

Nigeria is a multi-religious country with over 200 million Muslims and non-Muslims,” he said.

“As a result, one can say that the country is owned by more than 200 million citizens of various religious backgrounds.”

“In order to be just to all citizens of the country, and also to balance the apparent religious sentiments prevalent in the country, Nigeria’s politicians and major political parties have avoided fielding same-faith presidential candidates since the current political dispensation began in 1999.”

“In today’s Nigeria, the combination of a Muslim and a non-Muslim on a presidential ticket also gives vent to the spirit of justice, fairness, and equity as enshrined in Islam.” Remember that the country is for both Muslims and non-Muslims.

“The religion of Islam commands the impartial administration of justice to all, regardless of religious, ethnic, geographical, or tribal distinctions.”

“As a matter of principle, the religion enjoins its adherents to always stand for justice, whether for Muslims or non-Muslims, even if justice should side against them.”
