2023: Muslim-Muslim ticket will be rejected in the South-West — Arokodare
By Adeleye Kunle
The voting pattern in the recently concluded governorship election in Osun State has revealed that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is already dead on arrival in the Southwest, according to Hon. Yemi Arokodare.
Arokodare, a former member of the House of Representatives, also stated that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Osun election was an indication that “the PDP is back to reckoning in the Southwest.”
After the PDP’s victory in Osun State, its Chieftain proclaimed that the party’s fortunes would be bright in 2023.
Arokodare, the Chief Convener of the Ekiti Coalition for Atiku, said in an Abuja statement that the voting pattern in Osun State has shown that “Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket is already dead on arrival.”
“Christians and Muslims have rejected the same faith ticket since Osun because it threatens national integration.”
Senator Ademola Adeleke was praised for working tirelessly “to reclaim his mandate, which was stolen four years ago through intimidation and collusion.”
“It is a new dawn for the PDP in the South-West,” he says, adding that “this reclamation victory coming as the final phase of the off-cycle elections into the 2023 general elections is significant.”
Arokodare praised the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s Presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Governor Douye Diri, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other PDP leaders for “unusual leadership that ensured our victory in Osun State.”
“The PDP leaderships’ involvement in the PDP’s success in Osun State was very symbolic, as they ensured that all various interest groups were brought together to form a formidable team to ensure victory.”
“If not for some political wheeler-dealers who repeatedly truncated the PDP’s chances in Ekiti State, our party would have evened the APC in the South-West by now,” he continued.
“However, the APC should be very afraid ahead of the 2023 general elections because our victory in Osun State has energized us even more to make it difficult for them to win.”
“After demonstrating insensitivity to Nigeria’s religious diversity and failing to respect the people’s feelings about politics, Asiwaju Tinubu will have no home advantage in the South-West.”
“The APC cannot mismanage Nigeria’s diversity, widen our fault lines, and expect to profit from reckless politics; the people of the South-West will resist injustice, bad politics, and the APC’s lack of inclusion and fair play.”
“By January 2023, the APC will have realized that it cannot win the Presidential election, and it may become an insignificant minority following the general elections.”
