2023: Okorocha Reveals Why Some Aspirants Joined Presidential Race
Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has revealed why some presidential hopefuls joined the 2023 presidential race.
The presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said some of the presidential hopefuls entered the race to negotiate for juicy appointments from whoever emerges as the winner.
Okorocha stated that some of the aspirants purchased the APC Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for popularity and recognition.
The former Imo governor said some of the presidential aspirants joined the race even though they know that it was impossible for them to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate.
“Do you know that some people buy these forms so that they can negotiate for a ministerial appointment,” he said.
TrackNews reports that the presidential hopeful stated this on Thursday when he appeared as a guest on TVC News political programme, Journalist’ Hangout.
The incumbent Imo West Senator vowed not to step down for any of the aspirants following the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC Governors.
Okorocha, however, called on the leadership of the ruling party to ensure that the flag bearer emerges through a primary election.
The embattled lawmaker will battle the likes of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, Ahmed Lawan, Kayode Fayemi and many others for the APC presidential ticket at the party’s primary election scheduled for 6th to 8th June in Abuja.
