2023/ Ondo ex-Commissioners pick APC Reps tickets
Two former Commissioners of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu have won the tickets of the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the House of Representatives.
Donald Ojogo, former Commissioner for Information and Orientation, won the ticket for the Ese-Odo/Ilaje Federal constituency while former Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon Gboyega Adefarati, won the Akoko Southwest/Akoko Southeast Federal constituency seat.
Results of the primary election were released on Friday night.
Adefarati scored 95 votes to defeat incumbent, Hon Ade Adeogun who scored two votes.
The Akoko Southwest/Akoko Southeast primary was moved from Oka Akoko in Akure to avoid attacks by hoodlums who stormed the venue and overwhelmed security operatives.
Delegates were then moved from Oka Akoko to Akure and the primary was conducted at the International Event and Cultural centre.
Electoral officer, Dr Kingsley Nwankwere, declared Adefarati winner of the election.
Dr Nwankwere said the exercise was conducted in line with the electoral guidelines.
Adefarati, in a chat with journalists, said
many lives could have been lost if the primary were held in Oka Akoko.
He said hundreds of heavily armed political hoodlums stormed Oka Akoko which made the electoral officers declared the place unsafe.
On his part, Ojogo polled 67 votes to defeat his closest rival, Idowu Mafimisebi who had 34 votes.
