2023: PDP State chairmen disagree over whether Atiku Abubakar should be limited to a single presidential bid

Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairmen disagree over whether Atiku Abubakar should be limited to a single presidential bid.
The chairmen have divergent views on the demand that Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, resign from his position.
There have been claims that if Atiku wins the 2023 presidential election, Nyesom Wike’s camp in Rivers State wants Ayu removed from office and to occupy the job for only one term.
Given the impending nature of the national elections in 2023, some state party chairmen feel that the demand for Ayu’s resignation is unwarranted.
If Ayu’s resignation would benefit the main opposition coalition, others urged her to do so.
Ayu’s choice, according to the state chairman, would be his sacrifice for the party’s cohesion before the 2023 election.
If Atiku wins and Ayu resigns, the party chairman will likely convene right away to discuss whether to limit Atiku to one term in office.
According to a recent article by Track News, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party is likewise split, with some members pledging allegiance to Governor Wike and others insisting that the party’s national chairman must continue to serve.
