2023 Presidency: ‘I Will Ensure PDP Dislodges APC At All Cost’ – Gov Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has vowed to ensure the incumbent All Progressives Congress, APC government never regains power come 2023, www.tracknews.ng reports.
“I am ready to concede anything personal to me to ensure that the PDP dislodges APC in 2023 because of the level of decay we have witnessed in Nigeria under this APC-led Federal Government”, Ortom reiterated in a post on his social media.
Governor Ortom had earlier alleged that a cabal in the Presidency is preventing him from meeting President Muhammadu Buhari over the insecurity in his state.
www.tracknews.ng reports that Ortom made the allegation while addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Ortom said the cabal’s decision made him constantly state his position on the security situation in Benue and Nigeria through the media.
The governor stated that he will not stop speaking out against any threat to the country’s sovereignty, asking all patriotic Nigerians to do the same.
Ortom pointed out that Nigeria is in trouble and asked the Muhammadu Buhari administration to save the country from the claws of Boko Haram insurgents, bandits and killer herdsmen.
Meanwhile, governors elected under the umbrella of the nation’s opposition party had on Tuesday pointed out five things that will revive the nation from its current state if embraced.
Www.tracknews.ng reports that PDP governors during the retreat held for the newly-elected officers of the party in Abuja noted that the nation was currently in dire straits on virtually all fronts and that it must restructure its polity, economy, security and as well embrace innovation and technology to survive the situation.
According to PDP, it was time for visionary and purposeful leadership to take it out of the socio-economic crisis which the All Progressive Congress has led it into.
The opposition party while speaking on technology, said it will never stop condemning the Twitter ban by the APC led government, describing the development as a retrogressive action that should never have happened.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues briefly after the meeting, Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, said: “While we await these interventions, permit me to mention an issue of great importance. Nigeria must embrace restructuring to survive. It must restructure its polity, economy, security and ways of doing things.
“It must embrace relative autonomy and decentralization of power. This will unleash the energies of our people, especially the young. It is time to allow Nigeria to blossom. It is doable with all hands-on decks.
“Secondly, we must embrace innovation and technology as a way of life. Technology will solve the youth unemployment time bomb. Technology will improve our agriculture, health, industrialization, education and indeed, it has implications and impacts on all facets of our lives. It is in this respect that we continue to condemn the Twitter ban as a retrogressive action that should never have happened.”
