2023: Resign Now, Kano PDP Tells Ayu
The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the immediate resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Afyu.
The State PDP Chairman Shehu Sagagi told reporters yesterday in Kano how Ayu allegedly made a promise in Bauchi State to resign his position should the presidential candidate of the party also come from North.
Sagagi said since the party now has a presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, who is from the North, Ayu should honour his words by resigning from his position.
It was learnt that Ayu, who hails from Benue State (in the Northcentral), is already having skirmishes with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) over the crisis that occurred between Atiku and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, following the picking of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s vice presidential candidate.
Some governors, led by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, are not happy with Ayu and Atiku for picking Okowa in place of Wike.
Sagagi advised any aggrieved PDP member in Kano State to work together for the party’s success in the 2023 general election.
