2023: We’ll go spiritual for Peter Obi’s victory — POGA vows
By Adeleye Kunle
Ahead of the 2023 elections, a political group calling itself the Peter Obi Grassroots Alliance, POGA, has stated that it will go spiritual in order for the Labour Party, LP, Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, to be elected as the next president.
The group has already stated that it has begun a vote mobilization and sensitization campaign to educate the grassroots on how to know their wards, polling units, party candidate, party logo, and how to thumb-print on election day.
The National Coordinator of POGA, Kenechukwu Udokwu, said a lot of people don’t know where their wards and polling booths are while flagging off the sensitization exercise in Abuja on Tuesday.
On election day, he said, the name and image of the LP’s presidential candidate will not appear on the ballot paper, but rather the party’s logo, which features the father, mother, and child.
“This is the only party logo with Mama, Papa, and picking,” he explained.
Udokwu stated that, despite being from the Southeast, the LP presidential candidate would not focus his development efforts in a single geopolitical zone.
“It is my burning desire to see our country get it right this time,” he said of why he and his group embarked on the sensitization exercise. Our activities will be concentrated at the grassroots level, moving from ward to ward.”
According to the POGA Coordinator, the organization has about 3,500 members and offices in all six geopolitical zones.
Also speaking, Engr. Micheal Njoku stated that members will engage in spiritual exercises to ensure that Mr. Obi is elected as the country’s next president.
“We will go spiritual like what happened in the Holy Book between David and Goliath by praying every day for God to make Peter Obi the next president of the country,” he said.
“We will move the mountain with our prayers.” The miracle that Jesus Christ performed will be performed for Peter Obi, and he will win by miracle.”
Earlier, Afiazuba Ifeacho, POGA Chairman, Byazhin Ward, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, said, “We are going to take the country back from the hands of lunatics.” Peter Obi is qualified to be the leader of this country. Weep no longer if you are hungry or unemployed. We’re moving forward, and by God’s grace, we’ll succeed.”
“We pray that God Almighty will grant us our heart desire,” said the group’s Vice Chairman, Ihezie Chidi Everest, who was a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before joining the Labour Party.
“Peter Obi is someone Nigerians need right now because he has been tested.”
Victor Akinade, President of Oduduwa Forum, Abia State Multi-Purpose Cooperation Society, delivered a solidarity message at the event, which was attended by many youth leaders.
