The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, the senior pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, in connection with allegations of multiple rape and other serious sexual offences.
According to the police, Pastor Okafor is expected to appear before investigators at the SCID Panti on Monday, January 5, 2026, by 10:00 a.m. prompt. The invitation follows several petitions and complaints alleging criminal acts that are said to be capable of causing a breach of public peace and a breakdown of law and order in Lagos State.
The invitation was issued under the authority of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh. The police disclosed that the invitation letter was duly served on Pastor Okafor through his legal representative, and he has been asked to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command stated that the allegations against the cleric include multiple rape, other sexual offences, and additional conducts considered likely to threaten public safety and peace. The police emphasized that these allegations are being treated with the seriousness they deserve due to their criminal nature and potential impact on the public.
CP Olohundare Jimoh has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a thorough, comprehensive, and professional investigation into all the allegations leveled against Pastor Okafor. The police noted that the investigation covers alleged capital offences and other serious crimes.
As part of the investigation process, the Commissioner of Police has also ordered immediate and adequate security protection for all alleged victims involved in the case. The police assured that measures have been put in place to prevent intimidation, harassment, or harm to anyone who may be connected to the investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command has encouraged all alleged victims to come forward and report their experiences directly at the SCID, Panti, where the investigation has formally commenced. The command stressed that victims should feel safe and confident to speak out without fear of exposure or retaliation.
Police authorities further assured the public that the identities of all victims will be kept strictly confidential. According to the command, protecting the privacy and dignity of victims remains a top priority throughout the investigation process.
In addition to alleged victims, the police have also appealed to members of the public who may have credible information or evidence related to the case to come forward. Such individuals have been encouraged to assist the police by providing relevant details that could aid the investigation.
The command stated that persons with useful information may report either through the Police Public Relations Department at the Lagos State Police Command or by visiting the SCID, Panti, directly.
