Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has weighed in on a viral video in which a US citizen criticized US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, describing their actions as “soulless and evîl,” a statement that has reignited debates on global injustice and selective condemnation of vîolence.
In the video, the woman accused Trùmp and Vance of “lying in their face” while addressing international conflicts and human rights issues, suggesting hypocrisy in how the US leadership responds to vîolence around the world.
Reacting to the video on Facebook, Sheikh Gumi appeared to echo the moral outrage while broadening the focus to include historical injustices. He wrote: “Soulless and evîl.
They forgot what was done to the Palestinians. Their hands are stained with innocent blôöd.”
The cleric’s comments quickly gained traction online, drawing a mix of support and criticism. Supporters praised him for highlighting what they see as inconsistent global outrage, noting that some acts of violence are condemned loudly while others are largely ignored.
Critics, however, accused Gumi of diverting attention from the immediate humanitarian impact of terrörîsm in Nigeria and other regions.
