Bayelsa Sets January 30 for Burial of Late Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo

The Bayelsa State Government has announced Friday, January 30, 2025, as the burial date for the late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

The announcement was made by Governor Douye Diri during the 179th State Executive Council meeting in Yenagoa. The governor said the burial date was jointly agreed upon by the Ewhrudjakpo family, the Bayelsa State Government, and the Catholic Church.

Governor Diri disclosed that a four-day burial programme has been scheduled to honour the late deputy governor. The activities will begin on Tuesday, January 27, 2025.

According to the state government, sporting activities will mark the opening day of the programme. Events will continue on Wednesday, January 28, and Thursday, January 29.

The final burial rites will take place on Friday, January 30, with a funeral service followed by interment. The burial will be held in Ofoni, located in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo served as Bayelsa State Deputy Governor until his death and was a prominent political figure in the state.
