In a recent interview shared by News Central, former federal lawmaker and political analyst Ogbonna Nwuke has weighed in on the growing political tension in Rivers State, calling for restraint and respect for party leadership structures.
Speaking on the ongoing power struggle involving key political figures in the state, Nwuke revealed that the national leadership of the ruling party has already intervened in the matter. He explained that the situation has drawn the attention of the party’s highest organs, who are concerned about the impact of the crisis on governance and party unity.
According to him, “The national chairman and national secretary have asked the minister to stay clear of party affairs.”Nwuke noted that the intervention by the party leadership is aimed at restoring order and preventing further escalation of the crisis, which has continued to disrupt political stability in Rivers State.
He stressed that internal party disagreements should be resolved through established party mechanisms rather than public confrontation.
The former lawmaker warned that persistent interference in state politics could weaken party cohesion and undermine the authority If elected officials.
He added that Rivers State deserves peace and stability so that the government can focus on delivering meaningful development to the people.
Nwuke also urged political stakeholders to respect the hierarchy of the party and the constitutional roles of government institutions. He said the people of Rivers State are more interested in good governance, economic growth, and improved security than prolonged political battles.
