The Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee for the All Progressives Congress National Convention scheduled to hold in March 2026.

The committee, which has a total of 73 members, is tasked with overseeing the planning, coordination, and successful execution of the ruling party’s national convention. The convention is expected to be a major political event for the APC as it prepares for future electoral contests and internal party activities.

Uzodimma’s appointment places him at the center of the convention process, reflecting his growing influence within the party’s national leadership. As Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, he already plays a key role in coordinating the activities and positions of APC governors across the country.

Serving as Vice Chairman of the committee is the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has been named Secretary of the committee, bringing his experience in party administration to the coordination effort.

The committee includes a broad representation of sitting governors from across the country. Among them are Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno, and Bassey Otu of Cross River.

Other governors on the committee include Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and Peter Mbah of Enugu. They are joined by governors from Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, and several other states.

The inclusion of nearly all APC-controlled states underscores the party’s effort to ensure wide consultation and collective ownership of the convention process. It also reflects an attempt to balance regional interests and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the event.

Beyond serving governors, the committee also features several prominent former governors and senior party figures. These include former Osun State Governor and APC chieftain, Bisi Akande, as well as former Edo State Governor and ex-national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

Former national chairmen Abdullahi Adamu and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje are also members of the committee, adding institutional memory and experience to the coordination team. Their presence signals the importance the party attaches to continuity and stability in its internal processes.

The committee further includes top-ranking federal officials and legislative leaders. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, are listed as members, alongside Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

Several former Senate Presidents and Speakers of the House of Representatives are also part of the committee. These include Anyim Pius Anyim, Ken Nnamani, Ahmed Lawan, Patricia Etteh, Dimeji Bankole, Yakubu Dogara, and Femi Gbajabiamila.

A number of serving senators and members of the House of Representatives have also been appointed. They include senators such as Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, Ovie Omo-Agege, Sani Musa, Uche Ekwunife, and Atiku Bagudu, among others.

The House of Representatives is represented by lawmakers including Julius Ihonvbere, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Abiodun Faleke, Jimi Benson, and Boma Goodhead. Former and serving political office holders from different regions also feature prominently on the list.

Other notable members include former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, retired General Christopher Musa, and Minister of Information, Mohamed Idris Malagi. Their inclusion reflects a blend of political, administrative, and security experience within the committee.

The Central Coordination Committee is expected to work closely with the APC National Working Committee to ensure that all logistical, security, and organizational arrangements for the March 2026 convention are properly handled.

As preparations begin, the composition of the committee signals the APC’s intention to deliver a well-organized convention that reflects unity within the party. The appointment of Uzodimma as chairman is widely seen as a strategic move aimed at leveraging his political experience and leadership within the party’s structure.
