Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, has described Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri as a focused and driven leader committed to completing all ongoing landmark projects in the state. He also stated that Bayelsa is on course to become the second state in Nigeria with independent power generation after Abia State.
Ogoriba made the remarks on Monday while speaking to journalists in Yenagoa during activities marking the sixth anniversary of Governor Diri as leader of the Renewed Hope ASSURED Administration. He commended the governor’s leadership style and approach to governance.
The former federal lawmaker, who is also a businessman and politician, said that although Governor Diri is in his second term, he has remained level-headed and committed to quality leadership. He noted that the governor has maintained focus despite the approaching political season.
According to Ogoriba, Governor Diri has consistently assured the people of Bayelsa that he will not leave behind abandoned projects at the end of his tenure. He said the administration is determined to complete all initiated projects before leaving office.
Ogoriba emphasized that the governor’s peaceful and unifying disposition has contributed to steady development across various parts of the state. He said communities are witnessing meaningful and transformational projects aimed at creating a lasting legacy.
He highlighted several key infrastructure projects undertaken by the Diri administration. Among them is the Sabagrigha-Polaku bridge, which he said has already been completed.
He also pointed to the ongoing construction of the Angiama-Oporoma bridge, including a spur to Otuan community. According to him, work on the project is progressing steadily.
Ogoriba further referenced the historic phase one of the Nembe-Brass road project. He said the road is designed to link riverine communities and hinterlands to the state capital, Yenagoa.
The former lawmaker also mentioned the Ekeremor-Agge road, which includes a spur to Peretorugbene community. He described it as another critical infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and economic activities.
In addition, he highlighted the construction of a nine-storey civil servants secretariat building. He said the project is intended to provide a conducive working environment for public servants in the state.

He further mentioned the Glory Drive road, covering phases one and two. According to him, contractors have been fully mobilized to the sites, and work is ongoing.
Speaking on power infrastructure, Ogoriba singled out the 60 megawatts gas turbine project being executed by the administration. He said the project, when completed, will significantly boost electricity supply within the state.
He explained that independent power generation would stimulate the state’s economy by supporting small and medium-scale enterprises. He added that improved power supply would also attract both local and foreign investments.
According to Ogoriba, Bayelsa will become the second state in Nigeria to achieve independent power supply after Abia State. He described the move as deliberate and strategic, aimed at reducing the cost of doing business in Yenagoa and other parts of the state.
He said stable electricity would create a more business-friendly environment and improve overall economic productivity. He noted that power supply remains a critical factor in industrial and commercial growth.
Ogoriba called on Governor Diri to remain resolute and intentional in delivering the ongoing projects before the end of his administration. He said the successful completion of the projects would solidify the governor’s legacy.
He added that if the administration achieves its outlined goals, Governor Diri would be remembered as a game changer in Bayelsa State. According to him, the governor’s performance so far reflects commitment to sustainable development.
The remarks formed part of reactions marking six years of the Diri administration. The anniversary provided an opportunity for stakeholders and political figures to assess the progress of the government.
Ogoriba reiterated that continuity in project execution and completion would further strengthen public confidence in governance. He maintained that the administration’s focus on infrastructure and power development is central to the state’s long-term growth.
