2027: I Will Support Jonathan’s Presidential Ambition With My Blood—Northern Governor Declares

In a bold declaration, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has pledged his unwavering support for former President Goodluck Jonathan should he decide to enter the 2027 presidential race.
As the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governors’ forum, Mr. Mohammed boldly stated, “If we can persuade Jonathan to contest, I will stand behind him with my blood. Out of modesty, he continues to hesitate, but his leadership is vital for our nation.”
Responding to a group urging him to run for president, Mohammed revealed his inner conflict about his own political ambitions. “I am considering my place as a leader of the opposition. There are numerous exceptional leaders within the PDP, particularly my mentor, Goodluck Jonathan. As long as he is a viable candidate, I will refrain from pursuing the presidency myself.”
Lauding Jonathan’s track record, Mr. Mohammed articulated an optimistic vision for Nigeria’s future: “Jonathan possesses the experience necessary to surpass the current leadership. We are acutely aware of our economic struggles—the inflation, the rising prices. During his tenure, he prioritized inclusivity, tackling the Almajiri system and launching initiatives for our unemployed youth.”
With fervor, he remarked, “We need leaders who embody energy, foresight, and ambition. His ability to recruit and nurture talent was exemplary; we need more leaders like him.”
Goodluck Jonathan served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, a period marked by both opportunity and controversy.
