Nigerians have been given advice by Nollywood actor Yul Edochie on how to possibly avoid being harrassed by police officers on the road.
According to Track News, police harassment has developed into a recent trend that many people have condemned, ranging from illegal extortion to checking a person’s phone.

The actor claimed in a tweet that despite taking numerous road trips, police have never harassed him.

The key to avoiding harassment, in Yul’s opinion, is “humility,” and he counseled young people to put their catchphrase-laden “Don’t you know me” mentality to one side while interacting with the police.

I take a lot of road trips, and I’ve never experienced harassment from police, he wrote in a tweet. Humility is the key.

“Set aside that “don’t you know me” attitude. You share the same rights as other citizens. Police will hail you once you have humbled yourself.

Earlier, a video of the singer arguing with some security guards appeared online.

BNXN had claimed in a since-deleted tweet that spitting at the police officers made him feel good.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokeswoman for the Lagos Police, responded to the news by saying that the musician would be held accountable for his assault on a police officer.

He added that if the police officers were found guilty of any inappropriate behavior, they would not be spared.
