Some supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, met in Abuja on Tuesday to discuss how to resolve the party’s crisis.
According to a top PDP leader in Atiku’s camp who spoke to Tracknews on the condition of anonymity, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike underestimates the North’s capacity.

The PDP leader went on to say that the main opposition party will not change its leadership as a result of the Rivers governor.

The source who accused Governor Wike of anti-party activities, however, stated that their camp will not take action against him.

“We will not dismantle our leadership structure at this stage because of Wike,” a source who attended the meeting said. What exactly does he want? The PDP is the Vice President of the South.

“Isn’t that reasonable? In the spirit of equity, if they say the South must produce the President, it should be the Southeast rather than the West. Unfortunately, he is accompanied by Ortom, Makinde, and Ikpeazu.

“Ortom is with him for economic reasons. Makinde, like Wike, has managed to irritate PDP leaders in Oyo. He’s stepped on a lot of people’s toes. His re-election may not be possible if he is not careful. He can only win if the APC nominates an unpopular candidate.

“Wike cannot eliminate the PDP. What was he doing in 1999? He underestimates the North. He has no idea the North is watching his words and actions. And they will compensate him in their own way.

“We will not give in to his selfish request. What exactly does he want? He is already anti-party, but we will not oppose him because we want peace.”
