New Information Emerged As Regards Wike and Tinubu’s Meeting
By Adeleye Kunle
Stakeholders have confirmed the meeting between Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, providing more details about their meeting.
As previously reported by Track News, Wike and Tinubu met outside the country to discuss issues concerning the 2023 presidential election.
According to meeting feedback, Wike, who is locked in a political battle with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, may reach an agreement to support Tinubu and the APC in the 2023 elections.
Speaking further about the meeting, a Tinubu camp source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the discussions were very fruitful. He also stated that additional meetings have been scheduled.
According to the source, six people attended the meeting, three from each side.
“From our perspective, it was a fruitful outing.” According to the Tracknews , “further meetings will be held.”
Meeting Attendees
According to the source, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Kayode Fayemi, attended the meeting from the Tinubu camp, while Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) attended from the Wike camp.
Atiku Also Meeting With APC Governors
According to a source in the Wike camp, nothing wrong has been done as a result of the meeting between Tinubu and Wike.
According to the source, Atiku has also met with APC governors.
“Why are they complaining when Atiku is meeting with some APC governors?” What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, and vice versa. “It’s all part of the game and nothing more,” he explained over the phone.
The Disaster
The outcome of the PDP presidential primaries for the 2023 elections is blamed for the schism between Wike and Atiku.
The Rivers Governor and the former Vice President are said to have been pitted against each other by the role played by some insiders in Atiku’s emergence and subsequent selection of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate.
So far, the PDP’s leaders’ valiant efforts to reconcile both men have failed to produce the desired results
