2023: We’ll know better, according to Ango Abdullahi, who says North won’t receive our vote.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Ango Abdullahi, the head of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has stated that the region will not back a candidate who aims to gain from tactics that take advantage of the ethnic and religious diversity of the area.
This was said by Abdullahi on Thursday in Kaduna during a book launch.
He said that the zone will encourage leaders who will do their jobs with morality, skill, empathy, and the fear of God.
He claims that the area has had enough of religious and ethnic disputes after bearing the brunt of them.
Abdullahi declared, “We would not support a candidate who cannot demonstrate that he will significantly enhance the standard of governance and the integrity of leaders.
“Second, northerners won’t be coerced into making decisions that lessen the likelihood that their current conditions will actually change.
“We would take part in all electoral and political processes on an equal basis with other Nigerians who appreciate us.
“In the north, we view efforts to sow discord and disputes over religion as hostile acts. In the north, religious disputes have cost us much; further action is not necessary.
“We have scars from the two times we overwhelmingly supported this person into office.
He continued, “Northern votes will play a significant role in the elections of 2023 as well, but they will be cast by people who are now wiser and more discriminating.”
