Obi reveals that the APC and PDP refuse to disclose their sources of campaign funding.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
With 18 days to the start of the presidential campaigns, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has steadfastly refused to disclose the sources of funding for its political activities.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had already announced that the 2023 presidential campaign season would start on September 28, 2022.
Section 88 of the Electoral Act, 2022 pegs, had limited presidential contenders to spending little more than N5 billion as the presidential campaign approached.
Additionally, a person or organization may donate N50m to the candidate.
When discussing the source of the funding in an interview with Punch, Bayo Onanuga, the director of media and publicity for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, stated that their approach of generating money for Tinubu’s campaign is not for media consumption.
When it was established, the fundraising committee, he said, would be able to respond to the question of how the money was raised.
According to the Constitution, Atiku would raise campaign funds.
When asked how his principle would gather money, PDP presidential candidate Paul Ibe, the media adviser, responded that he would do so in accordance with the constitution.
He added that the former vice president would abide by any requirements set forth in the Electoral Act and the constitution for raising campaign finances.
Speaking in the same vein, Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign Council, said that INEC should be the target of the inquiry.
Obi reveals the funding sources.
Nigerians have begun contributing to the Obidient movement, which aims to realize Peter Obi’s presidential dream, according to the spokesman for the Peter Obi Support Network, Onwuasoanya Jones.
He also said that the contender would not spend more than the N5 billion allowed by the Electoral Act for the 2023 election, according to Jones.
Jones added that Obi’s supporters are attempting to raise N1 billion for his campaign.
