Suspected yahoo boys protest EFCC arrests of members
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Suspected yahoo boys caused traffic jams on the Effurun roundabout to the PTI junction on the East-West road in Delta State yesterday as they protested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly arresting some of their members.
The hours-long protest forced passengers to disembark from vehicles and commercial tricycles and walk a long distance. Drivers were stranded in traffic.
Protesters criticized the anti-corruption agency for allegedly arresting people and demanding large sums of money as bribes to release them.
Some claimed that the agency was arresting youths on false charges, and that this was a ploy to get them off the streets before the upcoming general elections next year of man-hours on the road for many.
