Atiku: Sam Amadi refuses appointment of PDP presidential campaign council
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Sam Amadi, a former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has declined an offer to serve as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Council’s Director of Research.
Amadi expressed his displeasure in a letter to the campaign council’s Director General, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
Amadi stated that he is non-partisan and that his rejection does not represent a vote of no confidence in the PDP.
Amadi explained in a statement that such an appointment would create a conflict of interest.
Amadi stated that he is unable to take on such a role.
“I humbly decline the appointment and hereby abstain from participating in such a role,” he said.
“I declined the offer due to conflicts of interest arising from various responsibilities in which I act as a leader of various platforms where political neutrality and objectivity are required of me.”
“I worked as an analyst for Arise News for several years, and I regard it as one of the most strategic institutions for national development and sane deliberative democracy through analytical news reporting.”
“My position on that reputable media platform necessitates nonpartisanship, even though I am free to express my opinions.”
The PDP recently established its Presidential Campaign Council in preparation for the 2023 elections.
