Customs releases impounded drones to the Navy
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) handed over 86 impounded drones to the Nigerian Navy yesterday.
It stated that the gesture was in keeping with the security agencies’ renewed collaboration.
Controller Suleiman Bomoi stated at the handover ceremony that the drones were imported without the required End User Certificate from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and had to be seized.
The End User Certificate, according to him, is required for the importation and use of drones in the country.
“The drones are among the items that require an End User Certificate, which is issued by the National Security Adviser; therefore, we had to seize the drones for failing to produce the End User Certificate.”
“We intercepted the drones at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and went to the High Court for an Order,” he explained.
Receiving the drones on behalf of the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Solomon O. Agada, Chief of Training and Operations Nigerian Navy, stated that the “86 drones will be used appropriately in service to the Nigerian Navy and the nation at large.”
