You shouldn’t treat Nigeria like Wike – Fani-Kayode strikes Atiku over Northern remark
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has been chastised for claiming that the North does not require a Yoruba or an Igbo president.
Northerners, according to Atiku, should vote for him rather than a Yoruba or Igbo candidate because he is a Pan-Nigerian of northern origin.
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode condemned his remark, saying Atiku would not be allowed to treat Nigerians the same way he treated Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
Fani-Kayode said in a series of tweets that Atiku’s remark is unacceptable and despicable.
Northerners in the All Progressives Congress, APC, believe it is time for power to shift to the South, according to Fani-Kayode.
“The North does not need a Yoruba or an Igbo President: she needs a Northern President – Atiku Abubakar,” he wrote.
“Such nonsense is rare, even among the worst of us.”
“Atiku’s words are not only offensive, but also irresponsible and despicable.”
“This is especially true given that we would have had 8 years of Northern/Fulani rule by next year, and now this man says we need another 8 years because it is ‘best for the North.’
“Most Northerners do not believe this, and thankfully, unlike Atiku and his divided party, they do not regard Southerners as slaves and regard us all as equal.”
“We will not let Atiku do to Nigeria what he has done to Wike.”
“We will not be taken advantage of or denied.
“It is time for power to shift to the South, and the vast majority of people in the North, including all Northerners in the APC, believe that.”
