Debts: If Nigeria was a company, it would have been sold – Imumolen
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Prof Chris Imumolen, presidential candidate of the Accord Party (AP), stated that if Nigeria were a company, it would have been sold along with its entities to pay its debts.
The flagbearer said the next president would face the most difficult job ever, claiming that more than 100 percent of the country’s revenue is being used to service debts.
Imumolen told supporters in Abuja that President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor should be someone who is passionate about rescuing Nigeria.
“If Nigeria were a company, the option would have been to declare bankruptcy or sell the company and its entities to pay off the entire debt,” he explained.
He insists that the incoming president in 2023 be chosen not on tribal or religious grounds, but on his or her ability to perform.
Imumolen told the audience that he is passionate about the country and has contributed value even before entering politics.
“When I say I’ve given so much to education, people are skeptical. I don’t believe any man in the history of this country has contributed as much to education as Prof. Chris.
“You can look into it.” You may not be aware of it because I have not made much of a fuss about it; I have done it out of passion and value.
“There is no state in Nigeria — Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, or Yobe — where I do not have students numbering in the thousands on my scholarship board.”
According to the candidate, at least 5,000 people in each state have benefited from his scholarship program.
Prof Imumolen went on to say that the time has come for Nigeria to produce leaders who will add value and treat people with dignity.
The AP standard bearer has called on all citizens to support him in his bid to become president in 2023.
