Police in Lagos arrest another suspect with locally-made pistol

By Adeleye Kunle
The police in Lagos State have apprehended a young man who had a gun in his possession in the Ikoyi area of the metropolis.
Patrol officers of Adeniji Adele Division spotted the lone rider on an unregistered scooter at Glover junction just after midnight.
Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the arrest in a brief.
“On searching his handbag, a locally-made semi-automatic pistol and a round of live ammunition was recovered”, the PRO said.
Hundeyin added that the suspect had been moved to Police Headquarters in Ikeja for in-depth investigation.
In April, a notorious gang was arrested with locally-made pistols. The police later arrested the leader, Emeka Igwe a.k.a. Odogwu.
The 28-year-old was caught with three of the same type of pistol in a sting operation.
The police command then confirmed that though the manufacturer was in prison, his products were in circulation
