In Plateau, gunmen kill a community leader and three others.

Gunmen are said to have killed three people and the ward head of Mabel community of Butura in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Council. The Guardian learned that the gunmen stormed the community and opened fire, killing four people and injuring others and destroying property.

According to reports, the gunmen surprised the residents by storming the community through the hills. According to another community member, the attackers also killed a woman, her son, and one man.

He claims that the victims were shot at close range. “The attack came as a surprise to us, given the efforts being made by both the government and security agencies to apprehend perpetrators in the council,” he said.

“Both the council and security agencies must revisit the peace accord recently signed by the area’s natives and herders.” Innocent people are being attacked on a daily basis. As a result, we are appealing to all relevant authorities to assist us.”
