Zamfara Ex-Governor, Yari Speaks On Dumping APC
Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari has debunked the reports about him withdrawing his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tracknews understands that the 54-year-old politician holding the Zamfara West Senatorial ticket of the APC for the forthcoming 2023 elections assured his teeming supporters of his loyalty to the ruling during the weekend.
Addressing the party chieftains during a rally he organized at his Talata-Mafara country home on Sunday, Yari told them that formidable strategies had been implemented to kick-start his campaign in a grand style.
He, however, assured that there would be nothing like politics of bitterness, saying that his campaign committee would guide his supporters on how to behave themselves during the campaign periods.
On his part, the state chairman of the APC, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani assured the party supporters that there was no faction in the party, saying that all the cracked walls have been amended.
“The members of APC in the state are now one united family because we have resolved to work together as a team,” Daily Post quoted Danfulani.
Also present at the rally is the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, a former minister, Senator Tijani Kaura.
Others were an APC governorship aspirant in 2019 and former Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Shehu Idris, amongst others.
The Inspector General of Police IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, is set to meet with all registered political parties and their candidates over the spate of election-related violence in the country.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Commissioner and Chairman of its Security Committee, Maj. Gen. Modibbo A. Alkali (retd), stated this in a statement released on Saturday.
He said the meeting between the IGP and the political parties is to specifically reiterate the importance of peaceful campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The INEC Commissioner added that the Police boss would also meet with the presidential candidates and inform them of the enforcement measures to be taken against election violators.
Alkali said the meeting was part of resolutions taken at the emergency meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) held at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
He also disclosed that the ICCES meeting resolved that security agencies will upscale intelligence gathering, sharing, and utilization of the same to stem further sabotage.
Alkali said other resolutions include deploying joint Security and Safety Teams to all INEC assets and facilities nationwide.
