Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen slam Qatar over human rights issues in the country

Manchester United midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen have criticised Qatar for its human rights record.
Both men played for Manchester United in their 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday, their final game before the World Cup in Qatar.
Fernandes and Eriksen have been named to their respective national teams, Portugal and Denmark, and are key members of their squads.
They are dissatisfied with the tournament’s location in Qatar, with Fernandes leading the way in expressing his displeasure on Sunday.
“It’s strange, it’s not exactly the time we want to be playing in the World Cup,” Fernandes said, according to Sky Sports.
The midfielder is also unhappy with the tournament’s timing, which was changed from June/July to November/December due to weather in the host country.
“We know the World Cup surroundings, what has happened in the last few weeks and months, about the people who have died in the stadium construction,” he added.
Fernandes, one of Portugal’s leaders, stated that football should bring happiness to all and that everyone should be allowed to enjoy the game “because the World Cup is the world, no matter who.”
“Eriksen continued, ‘I completely agree with Bruno.’ There has been a lot written and a lot of focus on how the World Cup happened and why it is in Qatar, and I believe everyone agrees it hasn’t gone the right way.
