PDP is determined to retake power from the APC in 2023 — Ayu

The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, declared on Friday that the party was committed to dethroning the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
During the commissioning of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) in Abuja, Ayu chastised the ruling party for its poor leadership.
The former Senate President stated emphatically that the PDP will not accept any shady vote harvesting for the APC in the upcoming election.
He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to keep his promise of free and fair elections in 2019.
“While the others are completely unsure of how, where, or when to even begin their campaigns,” Ayu said, “the PDP is already preparing for governance.” The party is once again adequately preparing itself and will be ready to go when, by the grace of God and the votes of Nigerians, the PDP returns to power next year.
“The party maintains that we will not accept questionable vote harvests from inaccessible areas, as occurred in previous APC elections.” The PDP will not spend six months in the Presidential Villa contemplating what to do with power.
“We realized that democracy is not a one-man show that can be run haphazardly; democracy is about mass participation, shared ideas, and shared prosperity.”
“We renew our call on the international community, particularly the United States, European Union, Commonwealth of Nations, and African Union, to maintain their interest in Nigeria’s democratic project through diplomatic pressures, political contacts, and large, high-calibre observer missions.”
