Buhari, Tinubu, Others Should Refrain From Traveling Abroad For Medical Treatment – Kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwakwanso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has advised Nigerian leaders to refrain from traveling abroad for medical tourism.
The former Kano State Governor stated that leaders must stop flying out of Nigeria to treat themselves, regardless of illness, and instead focus on improving the country’s medical facilities.
Kwankwaso made the remarks on Sunday at a town hall meeting hosted by Arise News, the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), and other partners.
He stated that medical tourism must be eliminated, and that if elected President in 2023, his administration will reform and strengthen the health insurance system.
If elected President in 2023, the NNPP candidate also promised to use local health facilities rather than travel abroad for medical treatment.
“Our leaders must pay attention to the local health sector rather than abandoning the country’s health sector,” he said. As long as leaders travel abroad for medical treatment, everyone will follow suit. They will know whether you are the best or not if you are aspiring to lead the people.”
In addition, Kwankwaso promised to lift Nigerians out of poverty by providing housing, health care, and job opportunities, noting that insecurity is also a cause of poverty.
“In Kano, we pull people out of poverty through education,” he said. It was on our to-do list.
Poverty is also caused by insecurity. People are unable to visit farms. Poverty was exacerbated by insecurity. There are far more poor people than 133 million. We will ensure security by hiring more security officers and providing them with the necessary equipment and technology.
“In Kano, we built four cities in four years just to get people out of poverty.” Corruption and drug trafficking must be combated in order to create a more stable society in which Nigerians can find work. There is also a need to examine the current constitution.
“We will ensure that local government councils operate efficiently and effectively.” We will encourage community involvement. State governors are squeezing funds for local governments. We both serve the same people. We will encourage state and local governments to prioritize agriculture and electricity for job creation.”
