Okupe’s Resignation: Until We Meet, It’ll Probably Be Speculation – Peter Obi Campaign Council Speaks

The Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council has stated that it is still undecided about the resignation of its Director General, Doyin Okupe.
According to Track News, Okupe had earlier tendered his resignation letter to the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his conviction in court for violating the Money Laundering Act.
Okupe was found guilty by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday and sentenced to two years in prison.
The DG stated in his resignation letter on Tuesday that it was time for him to step down, but that his support for Peter Obi is unwavering.
In response to Okupe’s resignation, the campaign council’s chief spokesperson, Tanko Yunusa, told Channels TV that the council would meet before making any pronouncement on Okupe’s resignation.
Yunusa stated that such a decision could not be made by a single person and that the council would have to meet to make a collective decision in the best interests of all Nigerians.
“We have not officially made any pronouncement regarding Dr. Doyin Okupe’s resignation until the campaign council meets and decides what to do and how to do it,” he said.
“So those particular news may probably be speculations until the campaign council meets. We are not a self-sufficient people who can make decisions on our own. It will be a collective decision for the interest of the Nigerian people”.
