“History Now Has It That When Power Finishes From The North, It Will Come To The South” – Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has reportedly thanked Nigerians for ensuring the return of power to Southern Nigeria. During an event in Oyo State, Wike said that Nigerians stood firm to ensure power come back to the south and he added that history now has it that when power finishes from the north, it will come back to the south. He also thanked the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for being one of those that made history by ensuring the success of the power shift.
This is the first time that Governor Wike has spoken about the outcome of the 2023 presidential elections. You may recall that Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled a total of 231,591 votes to win Rivers State. Tinubu was also declared the winner of the presidential elections, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).
According to the report published by Channels TV, Wike thanked Nigerians for supporting the power shift. He said that those who fought to materialize the change may not be direct beneficiaries, but assured them that history will remember the outcome.
“History has it that all of us now are aware that when power finishes from the south, it will go to the north. When it finishes from the north, it will come to the south. It doesn’t need to be written in any constitution at all before it is implemented. And I thank Nigerians for standing firm to see that this issue materialize.”
