Keyamo: How Can Someone Claim There Is No President-elect While Being On National Television?
As Nigerians prepare for what many political observers have predicted to be the most heated legal battle in the country’s democratic history over the outcome of the presidential election recently conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the spokesperson for the All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC), Festus Keyamo has stated that it is utterly illogical for anyone to claim that Nigeria does not have a president-elect at this time.
While speaking during a live interview on Channels TV a few hours ago, Festus Keyamo claimed, “The straw that broke the camel’s back was yesterday; it was the last nail in the coffin. How can someone claim there is no president-elect while being on national television and in front of the entire world? How can he assert that the president-elect must not take the oath of office and that he has no faith in the legal process the LP has begun? Does that person intend to run for vice president of the nation?”
“Therefore he granted himself the authority to interpret the constitution? Who gave him the authority to interpret Section 134 of the Constitution according to his story? Then he proclaimed that INEC’s actions were completely unconstitutional. Anyone who thinks we currently have no President-elect is living a pure fantasy”, he added.
Over to my esteemed readers, I know you will have something to say about Festus Keyamo’s statement? Please make an effort to share and write down your thoughts in the comment section below.
