After Police Threw Me Out Of The Vehicle Boot & Beat Me, I Was Not Given Police Cell To Sleep—Chude Nnamdi
Influencer Nnamdi Chude has spoken out about his ordeal at the hands of overzealous police officers working for the Anambra State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, who held him after oil tycoon and businessman Emeka Offor filed a complaint over suspected character slander.
According to Punch paper, after spending six days in various police detention facilities, including the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja and the CID facility at the now-defunct SARS Awkuzu, Anambra State, Chude was finally freed on Friday.
The victim confirmed that he had been held for alleged character defamation on Friday following Offor’s petition on a tweet he sent out on March 13 and Offor’s petition regarding the incident.
The dissolved Awkuzu SARS (now the Anambra CID) in Awka, he claimed, was picked up by some members of the Anambra State cybersecurity police division during the election on Saturday.
“As soon as we arrived to Awkuzu SARS, I was thrown out of the boot; the cops beat me until I was unconscious before another officer intervened on my side. The officer informed them that my issue was a civil problem and not a criminal one, according to the information he had. I was therefore left on my own before the officer who intervened on my side volunteered to let me sleep at the counter rather than the cruel police cell.
