Interim Govt: We are not intimidated, arrest MC Oluomo, others first – LP responds to DSS alarm
The Labour Party on Wednesday said Nigerians would not be intimidated into abandoning their legitimate and legal right to seek redress in court to reclaim their mandate “which was freely given to its Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi but brazenly stolen by highest bidders.”
Yunusa Tanko, Chief Spokesperson of the Labour Party, stated this in Abuja while reacting to the alarm raised by the Department of State Services, DSS, over an alleged plot by some politician or group of people to create an Interim National Government.
Track news recalls that the DSS had alleged that some politicians were plotting to truncate the country’s democracy through demonstrations and “obtaining frivolous court injunctions” which would stop the inauguration of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu.
The secret police warned those nursing such intention to desist from it, describing it as unacceptable.
Reacting to the security alert, the LP spokesperson tackled the DSS over its silence on the violence that marred the just concluded general elections.
According to Tanko, the DSS should have arrested some violence instigators such as MC Oluomo who threatened the Igbos in Lagos State prior to the gubernatorial election.
Yunusa said, “We are certain that Nigerians who want to take back their country will not be intimidated or blackmailed into abandoning a legitimate course.
“Where was the DSS when MC Oluomo and his ilk were engaged in ethnic profiling and violence against Nigerians of a certain ethnic nationality over their democratic choices?
“We urge the DSS to send these words of caution to those bigots who are pushing this country to the brink of disaster with their utterances and violent conduct against other peace-loving Nigerians who do not subscribe to their political views or speak their language.”
