Presidential polls: What PDP NWC would have done to enemies – Fayose

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ayodele Fayose, has suggested what the party’s National Working Committee would have done if its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar won the 2023 election.
Fayose said PDP’s NWC would have been “more than heinous politically” if Atiku had won the 2023 presidential election.
In a series of tweets, the former governor of Ekiti State wondered if Nigerians should be grateful that Atiku lost the election.
Fayose lamented that the opposition party should be in a sober mood and not fight perceived enemies within the party.
He wrote: “Imagine what they would have done if Atiku had won! They would have been more than heinous politically. Should we thank God Atiku lost? At least, as it is now, the party can now pick the pieces and face tomorrow as we bid Ayu farewell.
“Imagine a PDP National Working Committee that should be in very sober and reflective mood after losing a national election, going after leaders perceived to be their enemies, including a sitting governor in the party and suspending them!”
Track news reports that Fayose was one of those suspended by the National Working Committee of the party shortly after the 2023 general elections which the party lost.
He was suspended alongside a former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, among others.
However, with the removal of the PDP national Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, they got a reprieve, with the NWC lifting the suspension.
Ayu is now fighting to reclaim his seat after a High Court sitting in Benue ordered him to stop parading himself as the chairman of the main opposition party
