APC: Tinubu to Take Action Immediately upon Return from Europe Before Inauguration
Upon returning from Europe, the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, will promptly take action, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, revealed on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program that the President-Elect, who has been away from Nigeria since March 22, will be returning soon before his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
During the interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, the APC spokesperson responded to a question about the location of the President-Elect by stating that he is doing well. Following the recent elections and the extensive efforts made, he simply decided to take a break. However, upon his return and inauguration on May 29, he will be responsible for managing Nigeria, which is a large and intricate country. The spokesperson further added that the President-Elect will be returning to Nigeria very soon.
Furthermore, Morka explained that if the President-Elect had remained in Nigeria after the elections, he would not have been able to rest properly due to the numerous lobbyists vying for his attention. However, the necessary individuals have been granted access to the President-Elect, both digitally and physically, and he is actively preparing for his upcoming responsibilities.
Morka emphasized that the President-Elect’s rest is productive because he is utilizing the time to meet with heads of government and other significant leaders from different countries who are essential to the objectives of his incoming government. Hence, he is not only resting but also engaging in productive meetings, making it a “working visit.”
Tinubu emerged as the winner of the February 25 elections and was declared the President-Elect by the electoral commission. However, his whereabouts became a topic of controversy on March 22. Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, later clarified that the President-Elect had traveled to Paris, France to rest and observe the lesser hajj. Since his appearances after the electoral victory in February, no public photos of the President-Elect have been released.
In 2021, Tinubu spent over three months in the United Kingdom for medical reasons. He underwent surgery and therapy for a knee injury. In 2022, he made several trips to the UK and Paris.
