Buhari to open N19.6b Customs Office
President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to commission The N19.6 billion Corporate Headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is scheduled for inauguration in Abuja today.
The project was initiated 21 years ago.
Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG), Strategic Research and Policy, Mr. Wale Adeniyi told reporters yesterday at a pre-commissioning briefing in Maitama, Abuja, that the project kicked-off in 2002 when Mustapha Aliyu held the fort as Comptroller-General.
He, however, noted that the N20 billion project was remodeled along the line.
According to Adeniyi, the headquarters will accommodate a monitoring centre with which it can view activities at the ports and its other formations.
The DCG noted that since the project was implemented for two decades, it recorded some cost variation and adjustments over the years.
He commended the Comptroller-General, Col. Hammed Ali (rtd), who scaled all the hurdles of approvals to complete the project.
