Two Abducted, one killed in Bauchi

Gunmen struck at Balma and Bakutunbe villages in Ningi Local Council of Bauchi State and took away the village heads in separate attacks.
TRACKNEWS learnt that the gunmen abducted the Sarki of Balma, Alhaji Hussaini Saleh, 48, on Sunday and whisked him to an unknown destination, while the head of Bakutunbe village, Haruna Jibrin, was kidnapped on Friday.
According to village sources, the armed men went directly to Saleh’s home and fired shots to scare the locals.
Confirming the incident, yesterday, spokesperson for Bauchi State Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, said the gunmen invaded the villages shooting sporadically and took away their heads.
He said: “One Haruna Jibrin was shot on his head by the gunmen. When the police received the distress call, a team of police officers were drafted to the scene and rescued the victim. He was taken to the General Hospital, Ningi, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“Presently, the police are combing the Ningi bush to see how they can rescue the remaining abducted village head.”
