Adamawa Assembly appoints only female member as Majority Leader
The Adamawa State House of Assembly has appointed Kate Mamuno Raymond, the lawmaker representing Demsa constituency, as the new majority leader.
Kate Raymond who is of the governing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, is the only female legislator in the 25-member Assembly.
Speaker of the Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, who announced the appointment of Kate Mamuno at the Assembly’s sitting on Monday, also pronounced the member representing Maiha constituency, Jingi Belel as Deputy majority leader; as well as Suleiman Alkali, member representing Yola North constituency, as minority leader.
Suleiman Alkali is of the main opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Assembly which consists of 16 PDP and 9 APC members, had earlier in the month, June 13, elected the member representing Hong constituency, Barthiya Wesley, as Speaker; as well as Buba Mohammed Jijiwa of Jada Mbulo as Deputy Speaker
