Marcel Okeke, a political economist, said that Nigeria had 4 refineries working in Nigeria until the human factor they are talking about came in.

Marcel made the statement in an interview with Channels Television during the Lunch-Time Politics program, when Kayode asked that, they should do the math of 500 billion naira on one hand, 800 million dollars on other hand, for palliative, asking if he believes that this money should not be handed to people, or as some say, what option do they have since some of them live below 2 dollars a day, so its way better than nothing. And also about fixing refinery, does it guarantee price of petrol going to its normal price or less.

Marcel Okeke, said he agreed that giving people the money as promised by Tinubu to people is better than nothing, however, what we have always has is human problem, because it’s people that implement these policies.

“We had 4 refineries in this country that were working until human factor we are talking about came in, and the people ran them aground for whatever reason. I don’t know the reason but those 4 refineries, one in Kaduna, Port Harcourt etc are all run down, and that’s why we are talking about this subsidy removal and we are talking about palliative today.

” If not so, some of us are not too young to know that, there was a time we had enough petroleum refined in this Nigeria.”
