BREAKING: Lawmaker assassinated in Enugu [PHOTO]

A councillor in Enugu State, Nelson Sylvester, was on Sunday night shot dead at his residence in Eha-Alumonah.

TRACKNEWS reports that the lawmaker, popularly known as Ofunwa, represented Eha-Ulo ward in the Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council.

Reports say the assailants stormed the councillor’s house and started raining bullets on him. Sylvester ran into a neighbouring compound, but his lifeless body was later recovered.

This newspaper learnt that the development has sparked tension in the town and neighbouring communities.

A source who spoke on the development described the suspected assassination as one too many, said, “It is heartbreaking; it is too hard for us to swallow. We are in deep agony.”

Calls and messages sent to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, were yet to be answered.
