“It’s The Best That I Can Do For My People – Ahmed Musa On Why He Sell Fuel At N580 Per Litre

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, says he reduced the price of petrol at his fuel station MYCA7 in Kano to help alleviate the hardship on Nigerians generated by the hike in the price of the Petroleum Motorist Spirit(PMS).
Recall that the former Leicester City’s forward made the announcement of the price cut from N620 to N580 per litre on his Twitter account on Monday.
Two months after President Bola Tinubu declared an end to fuel subsidy, the pump price of PMS increased twice, with the product selling for as high as N620 per litre or more in many parts of the country.
The increase equally triggered a hike in the cost of living and transportation across the country.
However, Musa, who play for Sivasspor, told The Punch that his decision was aimed at easing the burden on everyday people.
“It’s the best that I can do for my people here,” he said, emphasizing the difficult economic conditions many are facing.
“No matter how small the reduction is, we can live better with that. It’s tough now and I know people are struggling to survive daily,” he added.
Musa also hopes to open more fuel stations across the country before he retires from football.
“Hopefully, MYCA7 will be in other parts of the country pretty soon,” he said.
The 30-year-old is Nigeria’s most capped footballer, having played 108 matches since his debut at just 17 in 2010.
He has scored 16 goals for the national side, helping them win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as appearing in two World Cups.
